Well, I did it.  Today, I accepted a job in New York!

I'm shuffling off to ... Poughkeepsie!  Luckily, and pretty much because, I know the lady I'll be working for, the transition from MA to NY won't be too stressful.  It's still a bit surreal but I'm thrilled, excited, scared and so very much ready for the challenges that lay ahead.

Getting in on the ground floor of a small company (they went public just two years ago) that has an entrepreneurial spirit is a wonderful opportunity to grow as the company does!

Besides wanting to share the good news with my online buddies, I also wanted to assure my fellow Patriots' and Bruins' fans that I will not, under any circumstances, betray my teams!  The Jets, Giants, Bills, Sabres and Rangers?  Fuggedabowdit!

Congratulations!  Sounds very exciting, and like a real opportunity to make a difference.  They are lucky to get you.  I will never give up the hope that you will grow to love the damned Bills.  I've never actually been to P, but that area of New York has a lot of scenic splendor, especially in the Autumn.  Best wishes as always.  By the way, you will not be in New York.  You will be "upstate," just as Buffalo is "western."

Thank you, JD.  I'll have to remember to put my return address as 100 Main St., Poughkeepsie, Upstate

Unbeknownst to me at the time, the COO is a huge Sabres fan.  We started talking about the Patriots and I mentioned also being a lover of hockey and threw out a few ex-Sabres' players' names.  I think that's why I got the job.

I'll make sure, when looking at homes, to add an extra bedroom for you BB2.  Or are you volunteering because you saw my "candle" comment?  lol

What candle comment?

Guy Lafleur and Bobby Orr are the only Sabres and Bruins I can think of off hand. didnt one of the Esposito brothers play for Boston?

Well, you "5"ed me on the candle comment.  LOL

Phil Esposito played for the B's.  Tony played for another team but I'm not recalling which one.  Bad memory, as it were.

Indeed I did. I should pay better attention. Tony played for the Chicago Blawkhawks with the Golden Jet.

But the only hockey player I ever really liked was Gordie Howe. To me he is the greatest hockey player ever, and maybe one of the greatest pro athletes of all times.

The guy played competitively in the NHL WHA and NHL again for almost 40 years.

Congradulations Dawn on your new job transition. I wish you all the best. As long as you do not betray the Pats fans with this move to NY, and you continue to keep us up to date on all the news with the Patriots, we will be fine.

Again congrads!

Well Congrats! to you Brat.  I lived in Middletown for 7 years (it is about 40 miles west of Pokeepsie) and it is indeed a very beautiful area of the state.  The fall colors are dynamic and unforgettable.  You won't have a problem staying loyal as long as you have been a true fan.

I moved from Georgia to NY and then out to New Mexico.  I have lived longer away from GA than I lived there and never did I stop rooting and following my Falcons.  Good Luck and btw I didn't read about a candle comment either.

Congratulations Dawnie:

I hope the new job works out to be all you want. Your candle comment reminded me of the famous Lauren Bacall line in one of the Bogie movies--"You know how to whistle, don't you? Just put your lips together and blow". . .

The intent of this blog is to share my thoughts, discoveries (sports-related or other) and anything else that might tickle my fancy on any given day. And it's my wish that my fellow sports fans do the same! You're more than welcome to stop in and vent about your work day, share a funny or sad moment or even wax philosophical. How'd I come about the title of my blog? I have a terrible memory at times. Movies? Conversations? The second time I see it or hear it, it's all new to me because I forgot about the first time. Talk about living in the moment!
